Call for Proposals
Your are invited to submit a proposal to lead a session during our time together in Walla Walla. The LADO conference is populated with the insights, wisdom, and collective brilliance of our group. We look to the membership to generate the content for the conference. Please consider leading a 60-90 minute session, and submit a brief session proposal by Monday, March 17th.
Potential session topics include:
CDO successes and challenges
CDO core curriculum session (core competencies in our leadership roles)
Current events/issues discussion
Networking and community building
and more...
Everyone is eligible to submit a proposal to present at the conference, even if you are new to your role or new to DEI leadership! We also encourage you to reach out to fellow members and work across institutions to lead a session.
CDO Core Competencies
We are in need of sessions focused on CDO Core Competencies
At each conference, we like to have at least one session that offers a presentation on best practices, updated findings, or a relevant initiative to one of the core competencies required of us in DEI leadership roles. In recent years, we've featured sessions on Restorative Practices, and Retaining Underrepresented Faculty and Staff. We've also had sessions on recruitment, community building (employee resource groups), climate surveys, and more. Here is a list of core competencies that you might consider presenting on:
Institutional strategy, strategic planning, embedding DEI in mission, vision, goals
Assessment of DEI progress; accountability
Campus climate surveys
Identifying and removing structural barriers to inclusion and equity (i.e., policies and processes)
Inclusive pedagogy
Using evidence-based practices; making data-driven decisions
Building institutional capacity (i.e., training, professional development)
Bias-response protocols
Inclusive hiring practices & recruitment
Organizational infrastructure
We anticipate this session to have some formal presentation element to educate and inform and a workshop element that facilitates our engagement with one another and sharing of ideas. Note: You do NOT have to have all of the answers to lead a session in this category!
Submit A Proposal
If you would like to present at the conference, either as a single presenter or as a member of a team, you can submit a proposal via the form below. The deadline for submissions is Monday, March 17th.
